So, yesterday I took the GRE (graduate records examination) because I'm considering taking courses toward my Master's degree. Ugh! I haven't taken a test in years (probably like almost 20). I even had to write 2 essays... one argumentative and one something else (my opinion on a topic given). I can't tell you what the topics were because I had to write some big long statement promising not to share anything on the test. Anyway, I finished my papers in advance of the time. Now I would have advised my GED students to take all the time allotted for revision, etc, but I just couldn't do it. Not sure how I did on those...
I got the results back immediately after completing the exam for the verbal and quantitative portions. I made what I needed to for the program I'm considering, but I'm sure I could have done better. I've been planning to take it since January, but didn't do a good job studying (don't tell Logan). The vocabulary was daunting.. the analogies intimidating. Most of the math was okay. My math is a little fresher in my mind since I've been teaching a little algebra I and II to Logan and Alyssa.
I bought a study guide at a yard sale for $0.50. It must have been out-of-date cause one section I was expecting wasn't on the test. When the computer said I was done, I was a little worried.
I'm planning to take classes through Austin Peay. They have a masters in communication completely online. They also have a masters in management online, but it requires the MAT instead of GRE. That's like 100 analogies... WHY??? Are analogies really that indicative of your potential for success??
Well, I hope the banality of this post has not put you to sleep. I've got to start practicing abstemious habits. :)
Couldn't help those last 2 sentences... I learned those vocab words this week. I'll see what other words I can throw into my posts...
The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. Ps 92: 12-15

Hat Party
A couple of Fridays ago, Mom and I attended a hat party for my Aunt. She is undergoing chemo for breast cancer, and, of course, lost all her hair. I thought such a party was a great idea. The local support group, SHOC (survivors helping others cope), do this quite frequently. With little warning about the upcoming event and no time to go any where other than Wartburg, I had to find something in town. Then Mom had the idea to wear our hats :) It was all in fun because, afterall, it was a "hat party". I found us a couple of huge sun hats at the Family Dollar. I felt like I was attending the Kentucky Derby. While I was waiting in the front yard for Mom to pick me up, several cars drove by and honked. I was looking good ;) (or so I thought til I saw the pictures, whew, I got to get to work on this diet business).
Turns out we were the only ones to wear our hats??? We had a great time. Aunt Diana is such a blessing to me and I've been bless to attend church with her over the past several years. After she opened all her hats, scarves, and various other items, we gathered around her for prayer. She has such a great spirit and attitude.
Here are a few pictures from the 'party'.

Easter 2010
Well Easter has come and gone.. I failed to follow through on my intentions of posting earlier in the month. I thought I'd share some pictures from Easter Sunday. It was a beautiful day! We had a wonderful church service and got to sing, "He Lives". That's one of my favorites and I don't know why we can't sing it throughout the year. I mean how can you go wrong with
"I serve a risen Saviour, He's in the world today, I know that He is living whatever men may say, I see His hand of mercy, I hear His voice of cheer, and just the time I need Him, He's always near, He Lives, He Lives, Christ Jesus lives today, You ask me how I know He lives, He lives within my heart".

For several years we've spent Easter Sunday having lunch with Jeff's family. It has become a tradition. I know my Mom and Dad are not real fond of it as we are their only company most Sundays. We enjoy the time with Jeff's family and now that there's a new little one, egg hunting will take on a new life. (Not that Candace let it die as she dyed eggs every year regardless of the age of the grandkids).
not the best picture of Bradlee, but it turns out to be the only one I have...
