The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. Ps 92: 12-15

Just who is the funny one...

My kids often bring this question up during family outings or while sitting around the house. They want to know just who is the funny one in our family - Me or Dad. Now that may seem like an unlikely question to some. Jeff doesn't appear to be funny at all to most people. He is a practical joker. One who relishes in playing tricks on people and then sitting back and grinning like an opossum as he watches his theatrics unfold. But he can be funny. We pulled up to the drive thru at McDonalds the other day and the lady said in a very annoying sing-songy voice, "would you like to try our new... " and Jeff answered in the same sing songy voice, 'no, thank you'. She quickly followed with a crushed, clipped voice, "order when ready". It was hilarious. The only thing, Jeff never laughs out loud. My kids often joke that they can count on one hand the number of times they have heard Jeff laugh out loud. That sounds sad, doesn't it? It's really not; he is funny. It is just expressed in a subdued manner.

Now me, on the other hand, will laugh hysterically over almost anything. Even about things that are not really funny. I can act stupid with the best of them and 'try' to entertain my kids with great antics and comments. I'm the loud funny one. Not everyone knows this about me either. Lys was talking to someone one evening while Logan and I were making great fun of a man on 'In it to win it'. Whomever she was talking to could not believe the hysteria going on at the house. "That just doesn't sound like your mom", they said. Lys, "you just wouldn't believe how she acts." Now I'm not sure that was a compliment, but I believe it was.

Thus the question, who is the funny one??? I always argue it's me... but I think perhaps it's... Logan when he's having a blonde moment, Alyssa when she's relating a story, Jeff in the midst of a great practical joke, and me - just cause I have the best time.

We spent the weekend together in Pigeon Forge laughing. We had a hoot at Olive Garden. I thought Logan would truly loose it over Jeff's disgust with his food. I'm sure the waitress thought we were laughing at her. We had a great time and I hope my kids will always remember laughing together as a family.
