The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him. Ps 92: 12-15

It's official

Well, it is official. I now have a senior and a freshman at my house. Prayers, please. Logan 'graduated' from the 8th grade last night. He looked very handsome and I did take a picture, but of course it is still on my camera. I will post them....

Last August, I bought him a suit to wear. He'd been dying for one. (Westley and Seth both had been wearing suits to church). His reasoning was that he could wear it to 8th grade prom and graduation. Did he go to prom?? Nope. Did he wear it to graduation? Nope. So much for that. Had a momma tell me her son was wearing one and she couldn't help it the other mothers wouldn't make their kids. Not a battle I wanted to fight. And if I've learned one thing in the past few years it is to pick your battles.

An award??? Did they just call out Logan's name for the Language Arts award??? Seriously?? Yep, he got it. I'm still in shock, but less so than I would have been if a different teacher had awarded it. (Coach Davis recommended him). The kid hates to read. He read one book in 6th grade and did book reports on it all 3 years of middle school.

Today's the official first day of summer vacation. Lys even took Logan to high school with her today. Why not? He graduated from 8th grade last night? They spent all day running around Wartburg. Eating out. Playing volleyball at the park. You know what I don't like about summer?? The fact my kids aren't in school. :) Surprising? Don't get me wrong. I love not having homework, endless fees for this and that, breakfast and mad rushes out the door. But, at least you know where your kids are all day long. When they are this age, going to Mamaw's everyday is not as exciting as it once was. Logan wants a job. Lys wants to run the roads. I'm thankful my kids are involved in basketball because starting next week they'll be spending their days in gyms. I beat myself up daily during the summer. What to allow them to do and what not to??? I don't guess anyone else does this, right?

On another note, let me brag a minute - you may choose not to read this paragraph. Logan passed Algebra I and his EOC!! 6 A's, 2 B's. That studying really does pay off. Alyssa made all A's, even in her college Sociology class. Don't know how she pulled that off, but we're not questioning it. :)

Oh and I will post those graduation pics... I promise... ;)
